What is Pink Amethyst? (Physical Properties)

First found in Patagonia, Argentina this new find of Amethyst has been found in few locations, all of which are along the same coast of South America. Our stunning Pink Amethyst has been ethically sourced from Brazil, in the Minas Gerais region, where many incredible crystals have grown over millions of years, some of the finest gemstones in the world are found here.

Pink Amethyst is coloured by large concentrations of hematite, an aggregate of iron, which also colours our Purple Amethysts. This is why you are able to get both colours in the same raw material. It forms in mostly polycrystalline masses/geodes, but in rare cases you get stunning prismatic crystal forms.

Hardness 6.5 to 7, colours from soft Pastel pinks to richer mauves have been found, depending on the hematite in the structure.
