Pyrite, an Iron Sulphide, Hardness 6 to 6.5, cubic crystal system, bright metallic lustre, conchoidal fracture.

The name Pyrite means "stone which strikes fire", and this mineral certainly strikes fire in many peoples hearts.  This beautiful mineral is so reflective that in ancient cultures large examples were used as mirrors, it is easy to see why so many people get confused with this glittering crystal and gold.
